Social media has been swarming as of recent with talk about the new L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara. The drama in the beauty community over whether this mascara actually does what is promised (by certain influencers especially) inspired a lot of people to buy and review it for themselves. I opted for the Extra-Black version since I want to bring more definition, noticeability and length to my eyelashes.
In this review, we will ask and answer 7 important questions about the L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara:
- How smoothly does it apply onto the eyelashes?
- Does it separate the eyelashes or clump them up?
- How many layers for the optimum look?
- Does it deliver on what is promised on the product bottle?
- How does it wash off in the shower? Does it leave a stubborn stain under the eyes?
- Is it worth the price?
- Do I recommend this product and would I buy it again?
How smoothly does it apply onto eyelashes?
The L’Oréal Telescopic Extra-Black Mascara applies nicely but not as smoothly as I had hoped it would. It has a relatively dry brush applicator, in my opinion, which doesn’t allow for it to flow as effortlessly as I expected. Also, because of the thinness of the brush it does take time to apply. It did, however, have an immediately noticeable effect on my eyelashes.
Does it separate the eyelashes or clump them up?
Okay guys, hear me out. The application brush of the L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara Extra-Black is not my absolute fav. It’s rather thin and you’ll be able to see below that it doesn’t separate my lashes very well. I wouldn’t necessarily call it “clumped” but I do prefer my lashes to look “thicker” and for that the appropriate brush is very important.
How many layers for the optimum look?
One layer. Just one layer for this look. I was extremely impressed with the lengthening it created in one application. I honestly assumed I would have to apply it three times or so for that effect but I was proven wrong!
Does it deliver on what is promised on the product bottle?
“Extra-Black Extreme Lengthening Mascara” is the tagline displayed on the L’Oréal Telescopic Extra-Black Mascara. I can attest to the fact that it definitely delivers on what it promises. For me, someone who already has black eyelashes, it did make them that much darker. This brought definition to my eyelashes and my eyes instantly popped. On top of that, I noticed an immediate lengthening in one layer of application.
How does it wash off in the shower? Does it leave a stubborn stain under the eyes?
Simple answer: yes. It does leave a bit of a stain under the eyes after washing it off in the shower. I’m comparing it to the Maybelline: Sky High Mascara which literally rinses of like gel in the shower! To be fair though, the L’Oréal Mascara does give more in terms of the final look. If you’re using an oil make up cleanser before showering then I don’t see this being a problem. I use the Ponds Micellar Water make up remover and I found that after I hopped out the shower it was still there. I must admit I can understand why, considering it is the Extra-Black formula. This is something to watch out for if you’re deciding which L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara to buy for yourself.
Is it worth the price?
You can pick up the L’Oréal Telescopic Extra-Black Mascara for R269,95 at Clicks. The price is slightly higher than other good quality mascaras like the Maybelline: Sky High Mascara (R199.95 at Clicks) but I think it’s worth the buy.
Do I recommend this product and would I buy it again?
I do recommend this product, especially if you’re looking for definition and length. If you need thickness and volume then I’d advise you to do more research.
Would I buy it again? It’s too early to answer this question now as I’ve just bought it. Before my L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara finishes though, I will return here to give my final verdict. As for now, I look forward to using it and getting honest reactions from my loved ones.
Ultimately, this review is simply my experience with the L’Oréal Telescopic Extra-Black Mascara and not a fact. This is why I will always encourage you guys to read as much as you can about a product before buying it and then maybe test it out for yourself.
